The UN have the codes to every nuclear weapon anyway so what hope that they got.

No the UN don't, usually only the President of each nation does - this stops Submarine captains, General's and the like from going rouge or holding the world or nation hostage.

The thing is, people don't seem to realise how bad this is for all of us.

America are considering giving Georgia a 'helping hand', and the US v Russia is not the best of ideas.

George Bush wont have the Government backing to start another war and I think McCain and Obama are more concerned with sorted the mess of wars out as it is without starting another.

it takes over a day for a nuke to hit.
in that time russia will return fire.

It generally gave us 24mins warning before a Russian Nuke would hit America in the Cold war. Seeing as Submarines, ICBM's and Bomber tech has all changed, I reckon that figure will probably still stand.
