Can you buy a controller to use with n64 emulators, 'cos it's abit tricky to control with the keyboard and i don't know what some of the buttons are either.

Yes, you can even use an xbox 360 controller.
Just make sure your emulator has mappable controls

any controller shold work with emulators, although I find the n64 simply has too many buttons and find it easier to use the keyboard

I use a real N64 controller with my N64 emulator, I got a USB -> N64 adapter off ebay for £10. It also has a PS1 controller port on it.

Have you installed the drivers for the pad and mapped the buttons to certain functions in the emulator?
