i may be wrong, but if the vista home basic is 32-bit, then it only supports up to 4GB ram. whereas the 64-bit can support up to 8GB ram. so which one is it? soz if i am wrong lol.

I think you're right, I'm guessing this computer is 64-bit though because of the 8GB RAM.

Where are you getting these configurations from? They're very unbalanced.

The first one has 8gb ram, a big hdd but vista basic and a pentium dual core processor? You wouldn't have any use for 8gb ram. You wouldn't notice much difference, and it'd have to have a 64bit processor. Also, you should at least get a intel core 2 duo. Pentium Dual cores aren't exactly very high performers.

That one you just posted would be a better choice, but I'd still upgrade the processor.

How's this Processor? It's AMD... sorry for the crummy translation, the page was Spanish. It has 6GB RAM, so I suppose it'll be 64-bit.

Chose the first p.c you posted about, but if you can downgrade it to 4GB Ram, and get vista home premium, what's the point in having basic on a pc like that with 8/4GB ram, i don't quite get that? but you, with that 2.4 processor (i think that's what it was, cba to check again) should run nicely with 4GB ram and that hard drive on home premium..

Just my thoughts.

Intel > AMD

And 2.0Ghz Duo core and 8GB ram is probably going to be fine for you. Unless you use photoshop, WoW and Flight Simulator at the same time .

Actually you're almost correct. 32bit Vista will recognize around 3.3Gb of RAM. Vista Basic 64bit allows upto 8GB, and 64bit Ultimate allows upto 128GB of ram.
