The reason people don't like Downing is because he plays for Boro. If he played for somone like Aston Villa, Liverpool or even the big guns, everyone would love him. You don't have to play for a big team to be a good player. I like Capello because he realises that.

Downing, ***? He is utter crap for England, there is much better out there. He was McLaren's love-child. Judging by current form, I don't think Jenas or Lescott shoulda been included really, but then again... Jenas played a part in that 4-1 win.

Boro are probably my 2nd premiership team!! It's not that reason I don't like him. I just don't think that he deserves his place in that squad. I know in the last couple of years no English player has stood out during matches, but Downing has been awful.

I agree he has had a few bad games for England but hasnt everyone lol? If players were selected on their England performance's then Gerrard, Terry, Cole and Beckham wouldn't be there. Everytime Downing comes on for England, he gets the ball into the box. I can't wait to see him playing with Crouch in the team.

I agree with that, but with Heskey in place of Defoe and possibly Jenas down the left as he did against Croatia.
