Because you are underage for a job

    Maybe a paper round?

I know it's not a lot but at least it will raise some money towards it.

I did but no matter how much I tried to get myself up in the morning, I couldn't at that time. However, desperate times call for desperate measures I suppose. +rep

Sponsoring is practically the only way you're going to get a substantial amount of money.

You could also 'collect for charity' and put a sign on the collection box saying that the charity is your bank account - but I don't quite know about that.

Some jobs will hire people of a young age - news agents are the best example of this.

Try also doing some jobs for people you know. When I was younger, my friends and I thought up an idea to clean cars of people we know and do some chores and the very same day, we went to someone's house, asked for a certain amount of money, did the job, and got paid even more than we asked for.

Good luck with your fund raising and I hope you manage to enjoy the trip and trek to China!

I did this last year and we went to Fiji for a month.

    Some ideas:

    * Hold a football tournament in school. £5 each to enter with teams of 5 and we got Nike to offer some prizes and got the local papers attention.

    * If you know someone who could offer prizes such as in my case my Mum's friend worked for Vodaphone so i did a raffle for the K800i.

    * If you can persuade teachers in school. Do a teacher penatly shootout. Everyone wants to score a goal past their maths teacher. People will pay £1 per shot.

    * If you can offer a service that people will pay for. Wash cars in the school grounds on Saturdays. Charge £4 per car and get your mates down.

    * Offer your services to local residents. I found a good one was advertising that i could secure wireless networks for £10 and pointed out the dangers of an unprotected network. You would be surprised of the responses. £200 in 2 weeks.

    * Got a lawnmower and ladder & cutters.Gardening service would fetch you £10 for an afternoons work.

    * Sell your junk on eBay. If you put a donation to charity of 10% and tell people you are going to be working for charity you will be surprised how many bids you get.

    Hope that helps

    LOL!!

Hmm well haven't done that much before but I would say possibly hold a concert in school (I'm assuming it's a school thing because you keep mentioning your head of year) where the school choir sing, the band perform, the drama group acts and everyone can get their talents on stage... charge an entry fee to get in and hold stalls outside the concert area offering refreshments and other things that you have to pay for. It all adds up eventually. We did that for our prom anyway :p

Bagpacking in shops with a bucket or a tin on the side while you pack, ebay, car boot sales etc etc.
