Default Post Your Setup Thread ... Locked?

Hey can we get an official statement on why this was locked? As many people, including myself, enjoyed this thread and now it's gone and all future threads are being locked with explanation?

    We just want a reason.

    Thank You.

There has been an announcement and many feedback/complaint threads on this all ready. All threads of this kind have been closed due to spamming and, if you would like to see a certain one re-opened, you need to PM either nvrspk4 or Professor-Alex with a good case with reasons why you think the thread should be re-opened (some are currently being considered for re-opening). Not all of the threads were being spammed but it was much easier to close them all at once and let members put forward reasons why some of them should be re-opened.

How is it easier though?! You have to close each thread individually which is a waste of time and effort on the moderators behalf. Surely they have brains to differentiate between spam and comments with a point? It's even more of a waste of time now that they're having to re-open some of them :/

I agree but if I went around re-opening the threads I'd find myself fired and maybe even banned for abusing my power - It's not up to me. I'm just answering his question for him and all I can tell him is what I know. If management change their minds on some of the threads I'd be happy to re-open them.

Depends what you call abusing power. There's abusing power for the wrong reasons, and abusing power for the sake of doing good in a community *hint hint*

Don't take this too personally but isn't it your job to deal with the spammers and allow others members to continue rather then closing areas they post in?

This isn't a school punishing all to shame one will not work here. If you don't like clearing up after those who spam and to deal with individuals you really picked a bad day to be moderation staff and staff in general!

If you're going to do something you might as well do it properly. ether close the entire forum or Ban spammers but i don't think removing threads to which normal members such as myself post in is going to work... all it will do is cause members like myself to start such threads up again....

I thought this is where moderators come in, you know they have a job and all... instead of punishing the whole thread by closing it.. why don't moderators do their jobs, and infract/warn the people who are posting offtopic?

Because we don't make our own rules, we do what management tell us to do. For weeks before this decision was made, multiple infractions/cautions and bans were given but to no avail - If the message isn't sinking then something else needs to be done and this was the decision management made, not the moderators.

If the message isn't sinking, ban the users who keep doing it..? It's not that hard.
