If your just starting flying.. don't touch VATSIM. Use the search about 'getting started'. There is many threads.

VATSIM has pilot mentors that can help you through aircraft and such, and then controllers (such as myself, Adam, Dan, Tucker, Tom) can take you through the air traffic control side of it.

and @ sam, VATSIM welcomes everyone of all abilities so don't tell him not to use it .

I'm still confused with ATC on VATSIM, even after listening dozens of times >.< I've never understood taxi clearance, and what to ask for first on a IFR flight.

With taxi, i mean like.. people say 'With Kilo' or 'With India' and i have no idea where they get it from

With taxi, i mean like.. people say 'With Kilo' or 'With India' and i have no idea where they get it from

when they say "with kilo" or "with india" it means they have copied the current ATIS information.

airports use information codes when they broadcast the ATIS - and when the weather changes, so does the info code.

for example, ATIS "information alpha" may have winds 330@6
when the winds change, for example, to 320@5, the ATIS code changes to ATIS "information bravo".

ive only ever heard "requesting taxi to the runway with kilo" in america, in the UK you normally report "with information [x] on board" in your initial IFR/VFR clearance request

Matt you obviously not on often enough to see what happens in the controller chat from LON etc.. they get annoyed with pilots that do things drastically wrong and espiecally ones that cannot fly their own aircraft properly.

Tom isn't even an S1 yet.. and wouldn't be classed as a controller; and yeah would you mind taking this to PM and stop spamming my thread?

what you're saying is not the point. It is the individual users fault - and not VATSIMs fault for allowing them to connect to the network. VATSIM welcomes everyone of all abilities, HOWEVER it is up to them to read the PRC and to learn how to fly their aircraft properly. Just because one idiot decides to fly without the proper knowledge/training doesn't mean that people who have no experience on the network should not be allowed to connect to VATSIM .
