That's correct, as the avatar URL is gathered by the timeline, and the timeline provides the profile_image_url, it only updates when you tweet

It is possible, but it's a bandrobbery on resources.. the timeline is the only feed that provides the profile_image, and the timeline is only updated on tweeting.

I could always just visit the profile and explode the avatar out of it, but that's pointless and takes up too many resources. ^_^.
