    Question PSU Question

Ok so i am getting a new computer for xmas

    Basic Specs:
Processor: AMD Phenom X4 9500 quad core
    O.S: Windows Vista Home Premium
    RAM: 8GB

Anyway i cannot list the full specs of it as i am not allowed it until thursday pmsl.. Now my question! When i was allowed to check it out i put a new graphics card in it - No problems when installing and it works fine. - I was checking the specs for the graphics card earlier and theu reccomend the power supply is 350-watt or greater. This is where im confused LOL The PSU in the computer atm has an output max of 250-watt.. Obviously thats not going to be enough and i don't want it to burn out! ;l - So my question is, If i was to put a 400-watt PSU in it on xmas day will it be ok? Or should i expect it to blow?! If not i will just buy a newer card i guess!

    Thanks in advance

With the specs you mentioned i doubt it would have booted with a 250 watt PSU.

ok right im not sure about your graphics card as you havnt told us the model, however i would seriously consider getting a new PSU such as one made by OCZ, Corsair or Coolermaster etc as with a PSU like your current one, there is a VERY strong chance it could blow up..... and maybe take all of your other componants with it.
