Should Britian join the euro?

It was rejected before and hopefully will be again.
Why bother going through all the trouble of having to change prices in shops all over the UK when we can keep it the same and save all the hastle.
Plus it's nice to find coins that are really old.

Ah, no. Cocaine was saying that we should wait until the pound and the euro are worth exactly the same. By doing this it would mean we would get less for our money, as alex was stating.

No goddamn, the euro is starting to fail, a few member states are considering leaving the euro and going back to their currency, the Pound is one of the strongest currencies going.

Chances are we will get the Euro, but not for a while.
A recession is hardly the best time to switch currency, and we wont be outta that for a looooong time.

no, what i meant that Parity would be disastrous if we joined the euro. Billions of pounds would be lost in value and we'd be the poor man in europe.

and if you really think that staying with the pound for 'cultural' reasons as the only reason, then you need to get your priorities right imo.

I personally don't think any of us are knowlegable about macroeconomics and stuff to really have a decent debate about this.

I disagree, i would say only a handful of people would be able to debate it. But im not gonna debate it because i have my own portfolio to do on if the economy really has been affected by the credit crunch or were we already heading to a recession. (btw, stupid title because its a bit obvious that it has )

We have been a member state of the EU for 25 years and havn't taken on the Euro yet and we shouldnt. We need some kind of independance to go with being an island on our own. So I say no, it will recover.
