So will members have to re-create threads that had a point to them? It seems a bit of a waste... Could moderators start re-opening recently closed threads, if members argue their point for why the thread was useful and interesting or should the moderators have the final judgement, because there are some interesting threads I can think of

What would the best way to go about asking for such threads to be re-opened, or would it be wise not to as of yet?

No, I don't think you were wrong for arguing the rule. I think you were wrong in speaking in the way you did. That being said, you apologized for your language, and I accept your apology and I take back what I said about you, we all get caught up now and then
