You can watch Gintama in almost any order you want. It's 97% episodic, you can watch episode 37 and then watch episode 111 and still understand whats going on without spoiling anything at all.

As soon as I saw Kondo standing there I knew what had happened and burst out laughing. They were trying to come up with ways to stop the Shinsengumi from peeing all over the floor instead of in the toilets like they're suppost to. That whole episode is a masterpeice.
