Really annoying

Long story, take a few mins to read.

Well basically I have this friend who always has this tendency to be moody so it's not unusual and we all live with it. Anywho, at our Science class, arguements tend to kick off at our table on a regular basis. So I was having an arguement with this girl because she was really rude to me outside of school and my friend turned round to me and says, "You are so effing stupid you fall out with people for the petiest things" and to me she was kind of fiercely going at it, like she was wanting to argue/fight. So I sat there feeling like a prat and then she came over and was like "You know I love you really" but it really annoyed me anyway.
So I kind of distanted myself away from her ever since that happened incase there was an arguement happening again. Now my friend was all bubbly when she went into science and then she sat down and got all moody, we could see it happening. So me and my other friend decided that we wouldnt talk to anyone else at our science table to avoid arguements. Now everyone started talking and we joined in and it was a laugh apart from my moody friend. She then said to me, "How come your not talking to me," and I said "Because I dont want to get into an arguement with you" and shes like " if you keep effing talking like that then there will be an effing arguement." And the whole class she was just being a total betch to me and everyone was telling me after the class how unfair she had been to me.

I'm done basically. I'm dropping everything because I don't feel like she is a proper friend she is treating me like crap and I haven't even done anything, that is the funny part. So what do you think I should do if she tries her usual technique of coming up behind me and hugging me because I've honestly had enough and want her to get the message to stop. Or do you think I am being irational? and should keep her as my friend

oh and she told me she was joking to but would you think it was a joke? I really dont lol

It's a question of whether or not you have approached her and made an effort to explain your problem with her and see if you can resolve it. If you haven't done that, I would suggest you try and explain what's annoying you and see what happens from there. If you already have, drop the friendship or follow the above advice.

I've tried that before but she kind of dosen't want to hear about it. I think she would make up another excuse like "I was only joking" or something like that and then the cycle would repeat

Well then personally I think you should lower her status from friend to acquaintance. Or Be particularly firm this time!

There's probably a reason she's moody and unhappy, something you don't know about which she keeps pent up inside and spills over at the slightest thing. Whatever it is is probably killing her inside but talking about it will make it more real so she wont want to admit it. She needs you as a friend and she probably keeps trying to smooth **** over after but it doesn't work. Give her a chance I think.

There has been issues. She had serious problems with her ovaries last year and was rushed to hospital and then she slept with a guy from our school and apperently the condom tore but you know what, I tried to be her friend at the period of time and she shoved me away, like we always fell out in fourth year but now its fifth year and the fighting has only really started. I do feel bad but I cant keep doing this, Its draining my energy on top of studying I have to worry about a friendship

I reckon you should tell her to her face u dont want to be friends anymore, becos the way she treated u was like u were a piece of **** on the ground. Say to her u will still be civil with her but just not friends and even though she was saying it as a joke (supposedly) say to her you didnt find it as a joke and have had enough of her pettiness.
