    Ehhhh you cant remove the battery or anything in the Alu MacBooks?! That just put me off

    You can remove the battery. Apple sell new ones (for a hefty price of £97).

    The battery and RAM are user serviceable, but the HDD isn't.

    Ahh... my mistake. I wasn't aware the difference between old and new MacBooks was as much as that. It's handy that the HDD is now easily serviceable.

    Well I've halfway got my sound working, every reboot I have to patch my AppleHDA again :\ ugr.
