You underestimate eleven year olds, if it was 5 then yeah how but at 11 it wouldn't really be that hard

I read the first part of the article wrong and was like "Wah?"

and her unborn baby, Lawrence County District Attorney John Bongivengo said.
    That baby grew up fast

Holy cow, there are guns designed for children!? And they blame the boy? If they don't want children shooting at anything, then why design guns for them? And what's to stop an adult from buying a gun designed for children? They don't have to be registered (as the article says).

Does make you wonder what's up with this planet :/

They're both at fault. Legalising guns is stupid - it's like the argument about people carrying knives, you don't have it if you don't plan on using it. But the kid obviously had issues and at the end of the day the gun didn't go off by itself.

Not only that if he managed to load it, firing it would mean taking great care as you have to think about weapon kick back etc. Oh, and you don't load shotgun shells via the barrel, as such.
It says in the article that the shotgun was a 20 gauge which means it has far less recoil than the more commonly used 12 gauge.

Also with most shotguns (unless semi automatic) you 'snap' the barrel of the shotgun and place the cartridges into both barrels (assuming it is double barreled) and as someone said above there is only one way that they will fit in.

I agree this is pretty disturbing but you cannot simply blame guns for what he did. I'm pretty sure he would've used a knife or anything else he had at his disposal had it not been a shotgun. Seems to me that he's just one messed up little child that hopefully will spend the rest of his life locked up!

Me and my younger brothers have been bought up around and using guns and I'd never dream of even pointing an unloaded shotgun at anyone let alone a loaded one. Being shown how to use a gun properly and appropriately usually teaches you a great amount of respect for the damage such a weapon can do clearly though that is not always the case!

I'm sure there are thousands of children who have guns for whatever reason but have been taught how to use them properly.
