The music editor thing in Vista which allows you to edit the tags of photos, documents, music and videos in the folder window is kinda unique to Vista, I don't think OS/X has such a feature without opening up a program, but I've never dived that much into them to be honest

The obvious ones: OSX is more stable, and secure. Windows is compatible with more games.

I'm going to count MSPaint as a unique feature because even if you downloaded a freeware OSX paint alternative it wont be as good.

I don't know who wins here, but Apple computers don't have BIOSes, where as PCs do.

My iMac came with Garageband, but I'm not sure whether or not OSX 10.5.x always comes with Garageband but regardless I think Garageband is unique.

Without any modifications or additional aplications, Windows cuts. Mac has the drag and snap thing, but it's not as fast as cutting.

Safari is better than Internet Explorer (as far as browsers that come with the OS go).

OSX has region, window and screen print screening. You can take screenshots of icons the perfect size, good quality and correct transparency.

OSX has a built in dictionary, and a lot of applications on OSX have built in spell check. An example being TextEdit. Windows's WordPad doesn't have built in spell check.

OSX has desktop spaces. To get spaces on Windows you have to get third party software.

Built in OSX allows different wallpaper for different desktops.

A lot of what I said is comparing the bare operating systems, without the user having of installed third party software. Third party software accomplishes a lot of what I said, but regardless my comparisons are valid. There's controversial things too, like Vista being incredibly bloated.
I'm not crazy, ask my toaster.

What brings you to that conclusion? :S

    What about The Gimp?

I don't know who wins here, but Apple computers don't have BIOSes, where as PCs do.
There isn't really a winner here anyway but I thought i'd comment on it anyway

That is one thing I do like, the iLife suite, which does come as standard with all Macs, Microsoft don't do this and I believe Apple did an incredible job of it.

    Very, very true.

OSX has region, window and screen print screening. You can take screenshots of icons the perfect size, good quality and correct transparency.
Windows has region too, it's called Snipping Tool and will do Window, Rectangular, Full Screen or Free Form

OSX has a built in dictionary, and a lot of applications on OSX have built in spell check. An example being TextEdit. Windows's WordPad doesn't have built in spell check.
True, OS X does have more word checkers I guess, but not much of a biggy.

OSX has desktop spaces. To get spaces on Windows you have to get third party software.
Not third party, its a software download from the Microsoft website, which I believe is probably a good thing, I don't use spaces on OSX86, Ubuntu or Windows with the MS Software, I think its good they give you the option

A lot of what I said is comparing the bare operating systems, without the user having of installed third party software. Third party software accomplishes a lot of what I said, but regardless my comparisons are valid. There's controversial things too, like Vista being incredibly bloated.
That last sentance was quite uncalled for, much like in one of my other posts, Vista is only "bloated" if it is on the lowest machines of today's world, plenty of people, even school and businesses use Vista with no problems.

I have to say, you did well to be quite unbiased for once!

Good to see someone can pick out the comparisons, never knew all them But I'd put the first one about stability and security down to the user. An idiot could destroy an OS/X machine as they would a Windows machine too

I saved up and last August bought my iMac 24" 2.8 GHz and am still learning and loving my Mac, i really cannot wait for Leopard. Plus there is no messing about with OS's from Mac, you pay one price for the OS, not like Windows where the more you pay the more you get in terms of features!
Leopard was released ages ago? :S

I think I'd first ask myself why I let an idiot on my computer. But yeah, you could destroy both pretty easily. But that's what Time Machine and system restore are for.

(Assuming it's not a Hackintosh) Less hardware actually benefits OSX here. BSODs on Windows is exaggerated, but you still get more BSODs (based off my own experience as well as a lot of other people's) then you get Kernal panics. I should have said, I find it to be more stable.

I was thinking more XP when I wrote this one. I knew Vista had snipping tool, but I didn't know it captures Windows too. Useful, but on OSX it saves the transparency, adds fading and say I had two windows overlapping each other, if I took a picture of the non active window, the one semi-behind another window, on Windows it would show the two windows overlapping. On OSX it captures the entire window, regardless of it being an overlapped non-active window. Still, The snipping tool is nice.

Personally I like it. The built in text-to-speech is handy too.

It's too bad they didn't include it in Vista then.

technically I said Vista being bloated was controversial, I didn't actually take a side (although you know what I think, though I don't see a point getting this genuine thread closed because of any arguments that may transpire because of it). The entire board of education in my area just bought new computers for all the high schools. They disallowed the use of Vista. Though you're right, a lot of other businesses and schools, as well as consumers do use Vista. But it's not as if they have much of a choice. Then again, a lot of users also probably don't care.

Who needs office when you can use that

Let's base a decision on an obsolete word processor. You'll most likely be using Microsoft Office anyway.

Before making an impulsive move based on a Mac's justification for buying the overpriced "quality" hardware. Consider this, you may run Windows on a Mac and Mac on Windows. So unless you're willing to pay the extra 2xxxAUD for the lulz, get Windows, or atleast Linux.

I don't know what your talking about... OS X is a more stable operating system... It's fact. TextEdit is good, it's just like wordpad that you'd get in Windows except TextEdit is better, and I'm not being biased, it just is.
