Love triangle

Right okay this is a long story. Sorry it its jumbled.
I liked this guy, and me and my friend decided to play a practical joke on him.
We told her on her msn that she was in love with me, and yeah it carried on for 2 days.
It got to the point where he was gonna help her tell me, and we'd carried it off really well.
She signed offline later after her telling me she was gonna tell me tomorrow.
Then he told me he'd tell me what it was and basically, he 'loved' her. He was happy that her and her boyfiend were going through a rough patch, and earlier on in the week me and some guy mates including him were talking about our first loves. He said 'I don't have girlfriends, I have *****s' Which annoyed me really badly.
And for the past few weeks, he seemed to like me aswell, and a few months ago we got 'close'
Then he just started being horrible to me.
So yeah its not in order or anything sorry, it's like only just happened now and im still in shock.
I was thinking of telling him I liked him cause our friendship is probably ruined now, which is a huge shame. We were awkward when he found out I liked him a few months ago, but then it was back to normal

Hmm.. I'd like to try giving advice but I'm a little confused.
From what I gathered.. You liked him, but tricked him by going on your friends msn and having her tell him she liked you? And he was going to help her tell you but then when he told you he admitted that he liked the girl? Or were you saying he was talking to the other girl (while it was actually you on her account) and he told her that he liked you? And then he said that comment which annoyed you and was flirty with you for a while but suddenly flipped and is being a jerk? If you put this in order it would help.. But yeah so basically I agree with you. If you think your friendship is already ruined, you have nothing to lose by going and telling him that you like him. I dont really know why he's acting like a jerk, so maybe if you just set things straight you'll find out? It could be he isn't interested in you at all, in which case oh well, or it could be he actually likes you. In any case, like I said, you have nothing to lose now that your friendship is messed up so you might as well tell him.. Or else you can just wait it out for a week or two and it might go back to normal.
