Looks like it was an accident as nobody was in the wrong!
It could have been avoided.
Bristol ATC didn't actually know the Boeing 737 was there... which is of course an issue..

Then it could have been a technical issue as they should have been able to pickup the transponder of the 737.
Or lack of attention?

Bristol Air Traffic Control said it was not aware of the Boeing, which was under the direction of Cardiff Air control where it was due to land.
Which would probarbly be why Bristol couldn't see it, either through manually taking it off his radar or it not actually appearing.
These things happen all the time - The media just seem to take an interest every now and again.. Not enough news me thinks.
Its a Hawk, it can do a turn in a split second. Im sure you could send 10 of them head on into one and they can turn in a second before they hit them.
