I will laugh when all of you who said "it's just the government over reacting again like bird flu" are all dead or have swine flu. Just because they were mistaken once about a pandemic doesn't mean they can't be right this time.

I wonder if you'd do the same if Ebola got on a plane.

It's people like you who stop politics from working properly. If there is a crisis, the government need to work efficiently and productivly, not use it to take political swipes at each other. I hope the EU will take steps to turn back flights and ships that have visited Mexico.

The WHO has said that in the worst case scenario, 40% of the UK could be in danger. We have enough anti viral drugs to treat 50%, (and not everyone needs them, only the ones with healthy immune systems need them, as virus' like this often make the immune system overreact and attack our own cells) The USA, the worlds 'richest' country, does not have that amount to support theirs. I personally believe that we are in a good situation.

Sorry what has this government done to stop this crisis? - nothing. I would of closed all ports and stopped aircraft coming from areas which are infected days ago, along with quranteen for people who recently got back as to check for infection. The EU is doing nothing it looks like, and it cant do anything to protect itself as it abolished its borders not long ago, so unless independant countries within the EU take measures themselves such as get their armed forced to block the roads then it will continue to spread. We are an island, we should be able to protect ourselves easier - or so you would think.

As for the vaccine, it is not the right vaccine for this type of flu and if we're in such a good situation, why are our borders still not closed? - Gordon Brown said we were well placed to weather the recession, we weren't so you'll forgive me and most of this country for not believing a word this man says.

Hundreds of school children with suspected swine flu after a few have been found to have it. See, all it takes is 1 child in a school to spread to hundreds.

You clearly know absolutely nothing on this subject, so why even bother posting something that will bring no input to the thread whatsoever?
