    Default [Quick] Laptop Screen

    I start up my laptop as normal then before it gets to the log-in screen my screen turns off and wont go back on. I cant do anything but turn it off again?
    what can i do?
    edit: if i reinstall vista from the cd will i lose my files?

    Have you tried leaving it for a while with the screen off?
    It might jut turn on again.
    If you reinstall you will lose all your files, yeah.

    yeah ive left it.
    urghhh that might be my only hope but i just finished my sp entry aswell, i have too much things to lose
    im trying a system restore from the boot cd just hoping it works

    You could use a Linux LiveCD to get your files back

    K its working now. Have no idea what was wrong. I did a system restore from the Vista disc then the Memory Loss Diagnostics or somthing, then i updated from the disc and it seems to be okay.
