Default One week to go: Our Eurovision Position

At the beginning of February, I posted the "Our Eurovision Position" thread to see what everyone thought of our entry.

Over half of the people who responded at the time believed the UK would come between 21st and 25th, most of them doing so without reading the first post.

Three months on, Jade has visited over 20 countries and performed on TV or preview shows there.

She has done two rehearsals EXCELLENTLY, and is the 5th favourite to win (at the moment).

With this in mind, where do you now think the UK will come at Eurovision 2009?

Last. I don't mean to be unfair, but... it's political. Regardless of whether we have a great singer or not, it's down to what countries favour us.

The juries are back. The juries that gave us nearly half of our points last year (San Marino didn't use televoting and Ireland are just Ireland). The juries who gave us our 23 top 3 placings. The juries that have made the United Kingdom the second most successful country after Ireland in terms of first places or the most successful of them all in terms of top 3 positions.

Jade has been getting huge promotion in Russia and Eastern Europe, with her song being played every 30 minutes on MTV Russia and 100,000 copies of her CD being given out with OK! Magazine in Eastern Europe.

Andrew Lloyd-Webber wouldn't put himself up for a 25th place and with a performer like that, he doesn't deserve to.

Norway put in a huge effort last year and came fifth; since when was Norway in Eastern Europe?! Norway has a huge amount of last places under their belt, but it doesn't stop them.

I feel the anger you felt as you typed each individual letter of that out as between us we must have said it about 100 times. :eusa_wall

Knowing Eurovision well and properly, and knowing the amount of changes from both the United Kingdom and the competition itself I think 5th - 10th is a reasonable suggestion, if we're lucky top five is possible.

I think we will do ok this year buth nothing in the top ten (i hope i'm wrong). But like pyroka said it's all political and they vote for the countries next to them or who they don't really want to go to war with(extreeme example).

Ino they went round all the countries in the started and asked for their votes but it's never really going to happen

Edit: also i have never met two people who care so much about eurovision. xox
