Yeah, the Valencia-debt situation has been brought up again this season as it was last as rumours were circulating that Villa would move to Anfield after his successful partnership with Torres at Euro 08 however, look what happened. They don't NEED to sell; otherwise they would. Correct? Even if they are forced to sell, they won't sell cheap - and the clubs will buy Silva and Villa for 30/40m a pop - because (in my opinion) they're worth that money. I don't think Liverpool have that sort of spending power to be fair.

Oh, and Nolan - I don't know; he's a strong CF who has prescence up front. To me Torres is the only out and out striker that Liverpool have (I class Kuyt as winger) and you could do with someone to act as a target man. By all means buy Podolski or Kuranyi or someone with big physical prescence but again it's a money issue. Nolan will go on the cheap (if he does go at all) and it could be worth gambling... I don't really know what Liverpool need as I haven't watched them much this season but it seems viable to me that they need a striker.

    Liverpool need:

Tevez (him + Torres? I'd pay to watch that)
Glen Johnson (Arbeloa good bench warmer )

I also think they need a midfielder, but don't know who, I can see them selling Alonso and bringing in Barry/Silva.

You've got to be realistic; Silva is going to go for about 30-40m and Tevez will not come cheap either (and his wages are stupid (if you don't get him on loan from MSI that is)). Johnson is a good shout, a bit weary on Downing and Nolan is a risk - but one that shouldn't cost too much.

Just my thought. I'd like to see Nolan at Arsenal to be honest. I rate him highly.
I've always rated Johnson highly. And at 21 he's got potential to get better. Its just a shame I havent seen him play much due to Downing's overrated qualities. I'd have him at our place, which would let Richardson take a central midfield role if he took LW, especially if we were playing 4-5-1. Even better, he was born in Sunderland.

I think Liverpool have a great first team when their first eleven is fit. Benetiz purchased another centre forward in Robbie Keane last season, we all know how that ended. Benetiz, I think will be very cautious because of that mistake. The difference between Liverpool and United is strength in depth like Adam touched upon. If they can just draw a few proven premiership players into their squad then they'll be a better team, especially defensively. I personally don't rate any of their defenders.

Liverpool first XI is fine bar a left winger and full-back. They need cover for Torres who seems to spend most of the season out injured. It's more of a case of strength-in-depth now for Liverpool.
