I'm currently coding and a designing something similar to http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com - I wish to improve on their service by expanding the scalability and information given.

Here is the search box design, just want some comments.

Also, do you think the project is a good idea?

I don't really like the inner glow on the search box.

The idea, if you pulled it off nicely and provided important information, then yes it would be a good site/project. On a personal opinion I don't think it would be popular.

Cheers. I had this idea where if the site is displayed as down, I could run the search through HostTracker and display how long its been down for. That is if its a valid domain of course.

I've had another idea. When the user types in a domain and it comes back false, it will also display if the domain is in use or not so the user can register it.
