If this thread is going to go in the way of a vB vs IPB contest I will close it.
Habbox has always used vB, the staff that run the forum are experience in vB. I myself used to work with vB for a company back in Version 3.0.x, it will always stay as vB.
Converting a 3gb database into an IPB will most definately result in copious amounts of data loss, downtime, tears and frustration. I would probably suffer an anger stroke which I am not risking.
If we really want it back then its about time we cut down the number of forums we have.

Some of them VIP(+) sections don't really get used, getting rid of them would be a start?

As long as you don't touch the KKK you'll be fine. What other forums are in the graveyard? I can't see merging making much of a difference, it'll have to be forums which revolve around small, meaningless topics which you get within VIP forums. In theory, the Habbox News Bot and its forum is kinda useless, considering members post their own topics anyway and have kinda always opposed the bot since its creation. I'm guessing that loves hogging resources?

Does vb feature acrhiveing at all? Considering the no digging up old threads rules, if you could more aless dump the post/topic db from over a year ago in to a archive i bet the forum would be a little nippier
(though would probs wana skip tutorials/elites forums etc)
Also, since you cant see vip no more, do the vip forum grave yards really need to be kept anyway?

People can find their original threads, old arguments and posts by old staff members. I don't think many people will be happy

Currently in talks about the VIP threads and forum cut backs, at this rate I have so much on my plate with various meetings, talks, project management that I may as well quit my day job.

Hence the archive where all this stuff could be stored, only difference is they may have to look in the archive copy rather than the live one Originally Posted by GommeInc
