Have you seen Cowboy Bebop? It's made by the same guy who done Samurai Champloo and is a must see for everyone. You might like Genshiken as well. It's a comedy about otaku. I just finished the manga, which is undoubtedly better, but the anime is still pretty damn good. Another good comedy is School Rumble. Directed by the same guy who did the first 150 episodes of Gintama.

If you don't want to watch another Bleach type anime then why the hell are you watching Soul Eater? The last of the series is entirely fillers. There are also a few stand alone fillers weaved into the first half of the series, featuring the worst character ever created. The first twenty five episode of Soul Eater are great, excluding the fillers which are absolutely **** but after that it seriously goes way down hill in my opinion.

    Oh my god.
Yer but is genkishen and school rumble anime with one storyline through the entire anime? Or is it purely episodic (i think thats the term).

Well paul seemed to think it was good, and i can always give it a try, and just stop after the first half of the series if it really is that bad.

Genshiken has an on-going story until the end with a few stand alone episodes here and there, School Rumble is episodic. Don't dismiss episodic anime though. Samurai Champloo is mainly episodic and that kicks ass. So is Mushishi and I'd consider that one of the best series ever made if you take every aspect into consideration. Cowboy Bebop is mainly episodic as well, it's exactly like Champloo. It has a main story but thats not the focus until later on, first you get all of these sub-stories which are actually really good. Oh and Gintama is episodic.

Paul's favourite anime is Naruto. Nuff said. Even Paul said the ending pissed him off though. The story in Soul Eater is good for the first half, but thats all it is. It's average shounen. If you want to watch a series based purely on story alone then maybe watch Eureka Seven? I haven't finished it yet but it's pretty interesting so far. Cowboy Bebop should be your main priority though. People on this forum need to watch Lucky Star as well. IT'S GOOD! :8

Well if your looking for constant storyline and no fillers your better looking at shorter series.

If you watch Naruto watch it from 1-140 that way you get the good story and stop before the fillers.

Only other show that ive watched that is on going is One Piece. but im a fanboy for it so wont go into it lol. Out off the current 400+ eps that have aired theres the odd 3-4 episode filler arc. and the odd filler. BUT the fillers are enjoyable. The quality dosent drop like naruto did.

If neither of them appeal should go for smaller series. quite alot of 12-14 ep series out there

Thats why i wasnt sure about naruto. And having 400 episodes... i just cant be bothered with that amount lol. Thats like 8.3 days of pure watching which im probaly not prepared to go through .

I do like shorter series, but i dont mind ones upto 100 kinda thing, but the thing with ongoing anime is that mostly theres quite a lot of fillers which is what puts me off them.

Heh, fair enough. Be sure to tell me just how crap the ending of Soul Eater is though because theres no way I'm getting there any time soon. Might drop it even though I've only got another eight or so episodes to go. :eusa_wall

For short series I recommend Diebuster (AKA Gunbuster 2, but don't worry you don't have to watch Gunbuster before you watch Diebuster) or FLCL (Furi Kuri, Fooly Cooly). Both are made by Gainax so they're both mecha shows with insane action, both on an epic scale. Gurren Lagann is actually like Diebuster's next of kin. Seriously, watching Diebuster is like watching another TTGL, it's awesome. Both were made a few years ago, so the animation is modern and kicks ass, nothing old. Good characters, good story, reeeeeeaaalllllllllllllllyyyyyy good action. Both series are six episodes long. I'll leave you with some screenshots.

    Diebuster

    FLCL

    and this gif from Diebuster

Forget Soul Eater! Diebuster and FLCL come first any day!

How can you say no when stuff like this happens!

Acccccctuallyyyy... I didn't mention Eureka Seven did I? You might like that. It has one episode less than Soul Eater, but no fillers with a very interesting story. I haven't finished it yet, but it's great so far. Plus Anemone is just awesome. It's made by Bones, who did Full Metal Alchemist, and it also has a colour palette similar to Code Geass.

BUT WHY THE HELL HAVEN'T YOU SEEN THE END OF EVANGELION!? How can you leave it at that horrible ending? It needs conclusion... it's inhuman... you must watch it!

    Asuka shows no mercy!

And ill probaly watch eureka seven after purely because its made by bones. And the fact its similarly looking to CG is just a plus.

The first three episodes are episodic.

Woah, wait... hang on... You can't be bothered to watch a 50 minute movie (two episodes) but you can be bothered to watch a 51 episode series? What has the world come to.
