Default Apple Facing Short Supply Of iPhone 3G S - AGAIN

The demand for the iPhone 3G S has been so high since its launch that Apple is unable to quench consumer's thirst for the smartphone. Speaking on a conference call to disclose Apple's third quarter financial results, Peter Oppenheimer, CFO and senior vice president, said that Apple sold a whopping 5.2 million iPhone 3G S devices since its launch last month, up from 717,000 smartphones a year ago.
"Response to the new iPhone 3GS has been tremendous, with over 1 million 3GS handsets sold by the third day after its June 19th launch," Oppenheimer said, according to a transcript of the conference call. "We are currently unable to make enough iPhone 3G S [phones] to meet robust demand, and we are working to address this."
Currently the iPhone 3G S is available in 18 countries, each of which is strapped for supply, noted Tim Cook, COO of Apple.
"The iPhone 3GS is currently constrained in virtually every country that we are shipping in, and so the demand for it has been very robust, and I think it speaks to the great product that it is, and we are working very hard to fill that demand," Cook said.
Apple, however, currently has an iPhone presence in 80 countries around the world, meaning that most markets are still without access to the iPhone 3G S. Cook said that the smartphone will be delivered in countries around the world fairly quickly.
"In terms of affecting the country rollout, I believe the vast majority of the countries that we are selling the 3G in will be selling the 3G S by the end of the fiscal quarter. So it may move a date by a few weeks here or there, but I think the vast majority will be shipping in by the end of the fiscal quarter," Cook said.
However, Cook was unable or unwilling to predict when supply might balance, only noting that it likely "won't happen in the short term."
God, bet they have the money flooding in.

yeah, i was thinking that before I went from 3g to 3gs. I realize how much that technology means to me and how I have to be up-to-date. I need help before I go bankrupt.

Still waiting for my o2 to get them back in stock to get me a replacement. The 28 Days ended, but they promised to keep true to their word, and will give me a replacement as soon as they come into stock.

They are bloody hard to get, I got mine last Friday and everywhere was out of the 16GB in black. Carphone Warehouse and O2 were all out except one shop in York which had "enough to last 3 days", everywhere else within 150 miles of me had sold out, was pretty pleased when I got it . I think one of the reasons for them selling well is those who signed up to the 18 or 24 month contracts on the original iPhone are now signing up on the 3G S. Plus Apple are handing out replacement iPhones for almost any manufacturing fault.
