2 Layouts, Opinions!

Hey, I got Photoshop earlier today (finaly) anyway, I decided I would follow a tutorial, and I did. I didn't have all of the correct icons etc to follow the exact tutorial so the layout could of been better. A friend also designed me a new layout, which is also here. I would like opinions on both of them.
Layout 1:
A layout I followed a tutorial to complete, I didn't have all the icons. I love the top of this layout, but I dislike to bottom half, the arrow is to thick and the text is not right.

This is my new portfolio layout, I hope we all like it. This was designed by my friend so yeh.

surely if you're making a portfolio you'd design it/code it yourself? and why are you asking to rate your friends work, cant he post it himself lol? they dont load btw.

You normally would but im merely beginning but id like it to look nice, so I got him to do it. And im asking you to rate it as my portfolio, not his work. And they do load.
