    To watch your laptop screen on your TV?
    So if you're watching iPlayer on your laptop you can transfer it to your TV?
    Umm just wondering really.
    Do you need a cable or sommert?

    You need a VGA cable, or if your laptop and TV have them, an HDMI cable. EDIT: Or, S-Video as suggested above. I think that if you use HDMI, the sound will transfer to the TV too, though I'm not sure.

    HDMI transfers both audio and video.

    I had to purchase optical cables to get sound from the dvr to the harman kardon receiver i have? i would like to know this aswell!

    if your laptop has an HDMI port, yes.

    Yeh check your graphics card has a hdmi port, if not you can always get a VGA to HDMI cable.

    If your laptop has a HDMI output use that. If it has a VGA output use that as long as the TV has a VGA input. The quality on s-video sucks. AlexOC, a VGA to HDMI won't work.
