It's a common misconception that you can get a tattoo at sixteen with parental permission. In fact, under the Tattooing of Minors Act 1969 it is "an offence to tattoo a person under the age of eighteen except when the tattoo is performed for medical reasons by a duly qualified medical practioner or by a person working under his direction". In other words it is against the law to tattoo anyone under the age of eighteen unless for medical reasons. So you can't just go in and say I am sixteen but mummy said I can.
HOWEVER, living in Bristol, I do know of a tattoo parlour (Southmead Tattoo Parlour) that will do tattoos for pretty much anyone. My ex, and a friend have both gone in there at sixteen and the bloke has asked for ID. When they said oh I don't have it he says "but you showed me your passport" -winx-. They're all registered and legit, have some amazing artists and do the job properly so they're not at all dodgy. Might want to try there.

I already knew that the legal age is 18, but some places have exceptionsIt's a common misconception that you can get a tattoo at sixteen with parental permission. Those exceptions aren't legal, however. Yeah it is clean. I know Southmead isn't exactly a beautiful place in Bristol the parlour is clean and they do a good job. I know loads of people who have got tats there and they've all been wicked. A friend of mine in the Army gets his done there whenever he comes back from leave. He's now got two full sleeves on each arm and countless tattoos elsewhere and they're all really good.
