Bloody hell. I think these are the most confusing cases because if the boy has a mental disorder, you can't just say lock him up and throw away the key, no matter how much we'd like to.
This bit made me lol slightly;
In the hours before the rampage, Callaghan lost three consecutive games of Fifa 2008, playing at home against his younger brother and a friend.
Thats sad
what a loser srsly
that's really horrible.
How sad and pathetic is he? That's really stupid.
I'm burnin' up for you baby.
Manslaughter!?! Should be charged with ****** murder!
That could go both way - lock him up in a hospital and throw away the key?
It's freaky how many murders and attacks there have been related to gaming, but this is the first one that's football related :S
It's nothing to do with video games as such. His condition just causes him to get extremely angry and violent with little to no reason. I noticed a comment on the article that summed this up pretty well;
In specific regard to the article; i find it both insulting to the poor people affected by this person's actions as well as the general public reading stuff like this that the Daily Mail feel the need to take a story about a mentally unstable individual's terrible behavior resulting in tragic consequences, only to use it as a ploy to further the publications war on video games.
The fact that he lost a few games of FIFA or that he had GTA in his game collection has literally nothing to do with this.
Ah I see, well that said then - it was just one of those events where those involved were in the wrong place at the wrong time. And that comment by a reader is true, the Daily Mail are just trying to make these few individuals, who do have serious mental issues, look evil and discusting - and using the games is stupid, when any sort activity could trigger it. Are the Daily Mail suggesting this boy is literally tied to a plank? Because the way they're over-reacting they may as well be (in their eyes)
The Daily Mail are in alot of trouble lately, one of their article writers wrote an article about that singer who died (can't remember the band, Blue?) and clearly suggested he died because he was gay. The article was re-written a few times, and each version was as bad as the other![]()
Steven Gately, Boyzone. But yeah that was stupid of the Daily Mail to publish.
