    Default Graphics card help [+rep]

Hey guys, my Current graphics card has broke on me and im looking into buying a new one.

My motherboard is PCI Express (NOT 2.0) So would a 2.0 graphics card work on it?

Im a fan of nvidia's. If anyone could give me a few cards that are available, If PCI express 2.0 will not work with my motherboard, the current best PCI express one.

Current GFX card: Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT

    Thanks xxx

I'm pretty sure they do but the speed will be killed to what can be achieved by normal PCI-E

No graphics cards are realistically limited by PCI-E 1.1. If the card says PCI-E 2.0, don't worry about it as you won't lose any performance.

The difference is 4-5% performance loss at most. Note I said "realistically limited". We're talking about 1-3FPS slower - insignificant really.

Just double it for the 5970.

"will bottleneck this card ALOT" from that review of an actual 5970. Although lets face it, someone with a 5970 is unlikely to have a old motherboard
