well looking at my lecturers slide show i saw this
in my own eyes i don't see that as creating an audience i see that as promotion and targetting the audiences you already know of.Creating an Audience
Publicity and marketing
Posters
Print advertisements
Trailers
Promotional interviews (chat shows etc)
Tie ins campaigns (McDonalds, clothing)
Merchandising (t shirts, hats, key rings)
Because it says tie ins campaigns macdonalds, macdonalds targets kids with most of its film promotions so they must already know their audience is kids?
