It's in third place in both countries so I doubt very, very much that it'll go any higher. The first major Friday release will knock Avatar down to number two or three in the next couple of weeks and then it'll drift down, as for Chipmunks, it'll disappear.

What's a Friday release? Are better movies released on Fridays?

It's the end of the week so more people are likely to go to the cinema than say if a film was released on Monday.

Most big films open on Fridays for the reason Neversoft gave above.
