I understand what you're saying Josh, but these opinions ARE based on facts. The script is IDENTICAL. And a remake is a remake. This wasn't supposed to be a remake of anything. MY OPINION is that if it wasn't visually stunning, it would be absolutely diabolical.

I'm surprised you haven't argued how Dances With Wolves is a copy of Pocahontas, but at least that puts some depth into the main character and you actually end up feeling really sorry for him towards the end. In fact it ends differently now that I think of it .

your opinions are based on the intricacies of the film, as misawa pointed out. The public do not pick up on these, as per this thread, and have based their opinion on how entertaining it was.

I actually did sort of feel sorry for him, being that he couldnt walk, then he was given legs. but that was more towards the beginning of the story anyway. and i havnt seen dancing with wolves, which is why i havnt mentioned it

Because even though the visuals made the film, it was still entertaining and personally was probably one of the better films nominated. not only that but when he starts mouthing off on the forum, like im just going to ignore it..
