Seeing how joking isn't allowed, I'm guessing this is a serious post. So what are you on about? :S

Exactly what I mean Oli. There isn't anything wrong with them but they're based around telling the user they've done wrong. Bumping threads for example. I'm sure it wasn't done on purpose. Closing the thread would've been apt - I know it doesn't give you recognition but it creates a much better atmosphere. They're often integrated with the threat that harsher punishments will follow, not great to know for a new member.

Glad that Matt has taken it on board and will see what he can do anyway

This is why you have less than 3K posts ol:
Same to be honest, I don't know where aggressive came from because I feel they are completely the opposite. Some may look too "automated" and "bot" like but most of them do try and send friendly ones along.

Surely it's better to notify a member that harsher punishments may follow than just issue harsher punishments?

The PMs seem quite friendly to me, they never just say "You've done this, it's wrong, do it again we'll punish you harder", they are always presented well, written in a nice tone and say what they need to say, plus explain why what the member has done is breaking the rules (which I think is the crucial part of being friendly).

I think one thing that should be mentioned though is the "message to user" section of an infraction, often these are too blunt and don't fully explain what the member has done wrong.

Matt's posted a reminder about mods being polite in mods only

I only know a couple that use abrupt short PMs, but hopefully this will stop that.

& Jake, older members should be treated the same in PMs I think, but obivously it's more likely an older member will be recieving a punishment rather than a warning.

Okay where is the common sense in this?

Frick, FML are both now allowed but shiz which a 7 year old is allowed to say without penalty anywhere in the world is not ?:S

My personal view is that all words that are deemed unacceptable should be added to the filter so that any member cannot be in any doubt about what can be posted and what can't and if they try to post any of these words then they can only do it by 'avoiding the filter'.

Whether or not they can be used to insult somebody is a spurious argument in my opinion as this is an entirely different rule break and whether or not they are in the filter does not enter the equation.

The matter needs to be looked at and a consistent approach applied.

I think the rules on abbreviated words are far too harsh, sure we know about them but newer members don't and they receive quite heavy punishment.

I assume you're talking about Loz, Jake? She's had a few infractions for abbreviations and it's because she doesn't know any better and obviously habbo allow it, hell some official forums even allow full on swearing, so a lot of infractions for abbreviations are too harsh here.

I think you should either filter abbreviations, well known ones of course. Or say they're allowed because they don't really harm anyone and they're abbreviations so some 12 year old won't be offended by seeing them.
    I love it when you

she's right, but ***** (lmfao) is filtered

I think the person you are referring to put "."'s inbetween them, obviously purposely avoiding the filter?

It's a regular thing on Habbo for people to put dots in between as a joke, can see it on here too, has been the same for years. "Wait you're a g....a....y? ;l" I'm not excusing it but putting dots between ***** when you're a new user isn't really punishable imo.

Totally agree with Rosie, if you're not going to allow shiz *** and stuff then just filter them. Although, you said that FML was going to be filtered about two weeks ago and now it's allowed, lmao.

Also, I think it's ludicrous that you can say older members and new members should be treated the same when they're being told about their behaviour.
