My parents are awful. They expect me to be perfect, they should be grateful that I don't smoke or drink cos most people my age do.
Keep your mind open, now my love, or else my heart just might close

I believe the same as you, I don't want to be as bad of a parent as my parents were to me, I mean, when your young they make you feel at home, but as you get older, goes down and down from there

think some of you are over exagerrating slightly, grass is always greener
i would love if my mum paid more attention to what i do or actually cared if i was out all hours but she doesn't. yet when my brother is she's always worried about him and he hates it. i just dislike the way she moans about her problems to me/takes them out on me when it's her own fault but i get on with it. lmao @ the person who says their parents are ungrateful, if anyone is it's you. just wait till you don't have them it'll probably be a different story, sure i feel the same way sometimes but at the end of the day i'm glad she acts the way she does instead of some of the ****** up mums i've seen before.

and @above i'm closer to my mum than i ever was and still had a great childhood, it's not the same as everyone but i understand it is for some people

You don't like feeling old but you don't like being treated like a kid? This is the problem with the youth these days, we just want the good parts of everything and are unwilling to accept the rest. You live under your parents roof and (I expect) have done all your life, so I think you owe it to them to be ok with the fact that they care about you that much.

That's a disgusting thing to say frankly. You're the one who should be grateful after everything parents do for you, you shouldn't expect to get rewarded just for not doing something bad.

Yeah you must have terrible terrible parents, I mean you get fed, clothed, looked after all through your life without usually asking for much in return, and then they buy you a computer and internet access so you can complain about how awful they are. Shame on them, what bad parenting it is to look after your children.
