I've recently rejoined world of warcraft. I'm want to know what class is the best to play on. I need a class that I will enjoy were I can heal people and do damage. I don't like tanking.

According to your specifications, you could be a shaman, priest, druid or a paladin.
I have all of those above 70 (3 at 80) but I'ld personally recommend Priest, me being biased and what not.
2 healing tree's, and one of the funnest DPS trees I've had the fun of playing.
Choose wisely (hint)

Oooh. I tried priest before but normally I give up after a few levels. I want someone who I can get to level 80 to this year as it my yearly goal.

Probably Paladin as Druid, Shaman and Priest and slow until ~40

Shamans i never found slow until 30/40 where they speed up even more.
I hate priests and always find them slow.

Im a DK and it is so boring! Im currently levelling a gnome warlock and it is tons of fun so I would recommend that!
