And quality issues aswell only one i can say is Death note dvds.

Also UK dosen't even have dragonball =/
You're comparing eight single DVDs with a boxset, of course the boxset is going to be cheaper.

Also, thin cases are lame. They're flimsy and break easier. Plastic cases are much better.

I have encountered no quality issues.

Am I the only one that found Lagann-hen extremely disappointing? Apart from the fist fight, it didn't seem as... well, I hesitate to use the word epic, but I'm going to. It didn't seem as epic as the series for some reason.

One of the main reasons was the music. It was badly timed and I definitely preferred the TV series music.

Another thing was the voice acting. What the **** happened? It was better on TV. Kittans' voice was way to high pitched, and lord genome also suffered the same problem.

Which did you prefer, the series or the movie?

I didn't find it extremely disappointing, but maybe I was expecting a little more. Nevertheless I was still quite satisfied. I do agree with you though, it didn't seem as epic as the series was and one of the main reasons why was definitely the music, and even the sound effects that could have been turned up a couple of notches to give it that extra umph.

The music was pretty much nonexistant until the end; it either didn't fit what was on screen or wasn't at a loud enough volume when compared to the dialogue. Even when they finally did play Libera Me From Hell it didn't come with the epicness that it had in the series, or even in the first movie.

I didn't mind Lord Genome's voice, but I did notice that Kittan's voice was a little out of it. Especially during the King Kittan Giga Drill Breaker scene. I could tell it was redubbed because of that little chuckle he does after experiencing all that spiral power. It just wasn't the same as the one I had come to love in the series.

I think I speak for the majoirty of people when I say I prefer the series, but thats not to say the movies were bad. I still enjoyed them immensely and would recommend them to other fans.

Hayao Miyazaki's new film (Ponyo) is released in cinemas all across the UK today. It should stick around for a few weeks so I'd recommend seeing it.

I saw a parody of the Mass Effect 2 Trailer using Gurren Lagann footage the other day. It's really awesome (watch it here). I just can not decide how much I like Gurren Lagann. Sometimes I think its one of the best anime series ever, but other times I think its great but not without its flaws. Perhaps I should watch it again to finally decide where it should go in my top ten. Although I just watched the movies... maybe I should wait a bit.
