Just out of interest if let's say the Motorola Milestone is on Android 2.0, then Android 2.1 comes out - would there at any stage be an update? Or would they be clever and make you buy another phone if you were really bothered enough to get the small update.

They will push and over the air update out to ya, or if it gets a bit old (like my G1) and it can't support the newer releases, it's always possible to get the new ones ported over, right now I have Android 2.1 on my G1 thanks to the guys at www.XDA-Developers.com

It means that you will get it when it is available over the network, your phone will tell you that there is an update available

    Precisely.

No need to be at a computer, no need for cables etc, it'll notify you, you say you want it and it will begin downloading and installing it.
