It has everything to do with it. If the media take the players attention away from their jobs, they will not do as well. Not that I care if England do well but anyway.

At the end of the day, all the media have done this year is pick on the players. I know they make money out of it - but they also do a FANTASTIC job at de-moralising the squad.

Demala is right. It's not just a case of will he be playing or not. The whole squad are mates off the field (well they were.. you get what I mean) so all this hype about players sleeping around (including the captain) isn't just something that will blow over without affecting anybody. Everything has an affect on the morale of the individual which inevitably has an affect on their colleagues.
With everybody happy and on form, I thought we might have had a slim chance. But now I'm not even looking forward to the World Cup. I can't be arsed with it nor can I be arsed with this England team. Jamie Carragher will enjoy his summer lol
