If I'm brutally honest I thought this thread was gonna' be a flame fest.
It's actually a pretty decent discussion and made me wonder how many I could hold haha!![]()

Food: 4 (hands and arms)
Without food: Around 6-10 depending on the size of the plate.
i have to say 4 on left 5 on right, did it last week in diner at school, teachers are lazy and go "olly, take these plates to kitchen" im like "keke" so i put loads on arms and there like ***!
It depends how big the plates are and what's on them. As for clearing away, surely lazerman has it exactly right? And with that I'd say I can carry as many as you want! My dad was a waiter once so he could do it all professionally lol
I can carry one plate with food, and half a plate without food.
I'm being serious. My clumsiness is like an illness.

Working in a pub/restaurant we're trained to do this. I can carry 4 with food on and many when clearing.

Quite a good question.
Been working in the catering region for 3 years now. really depends of size of plates:
Large main plates: 4 food - 12 or 13 clearing.
Dessert/side plate: 6 food - 20 clearing
I'd show you some tricks to handle more if you wantx
