I remember the transition on Habbo from when swearing was prohibited to when swearing is now allowed. The community when swearing wasn't allowed was much better than how it is now. Allowing swearing on HxF would probably go down as the biggest mistake in Habbox history.

The argument about the words are on the forum forever, yeh they are, but the user has chosen to see those words. I mean, whether you see it for 30seconds, or for 7 days whilst threads active, it doesnt make a difference, you've still read it and you chose to. I just hate seeing the stars and not knowing what they're saying.

How would it cause moderation problems :S I fail to see how so please correct me if I'm mistaken.

At least trial this suggestion. Joining a group would work because you wouldn't auto have the filter off. Also, 18+ and gender forums.. Pls

I really have no idea why they were refiltered, apart from some immaturity from a certain forum member (or so I heard), no names mentioned ofc. Is cba'd unfiltered?
Why would cba be filtered when arse isn't filtered

They were refiltered because our act was flawed really, if we were going to allow 4 abbreviations it opened the argument to why we were allowed more, which we were not prepared to do therefore it's best to say no to all.

My aim is to ensure that all abbrevations are filtered, as I can understand that recieving a warning/infraction for saying an abbreviation is frustrating because you didn't intentionally avoid the filter (that's debatable mind, but the first time at least ), so if they are filtered this avoids unnecessary moderator action and can allow the "Avoiding the Filter" rule to be used entirely for deliberate filter avoidance for instance bolding a letter or breaking the word up etc, intentionally attempting to avoid the filter.

An example of our action towards ensuring abbreviations/alternatives was the filtering of the word shiz. This word has not been permitted at Habbox for some time now, over a year as far as I know yet it hasn't been filtered. Now it is

@ Josh, moderation issues would be generated if only half the users had the filter on, is what is avoiding the filter?

18+ forums, no chance. We're a Habbo related forum, we don't need an 18+ forum.

I was just wondering! Why not consider gender forums though? You never said no to those, ha! You know I'm not gonna let this abbreviation thing die down for quite a while haha.

Avoiding the filter would work in exactly the same way. As long as there is a rule still saying not to avoid the filter, it works the same. If I said 'oh ***' it would get me a warning/infraction because I avoided the filter. (not only that but people who swear are the ones that tend to avoid the filter and therefor would no longer need to avoid and so could cause less moderation.)

Not an 18+, but I mean a specific forum where you can swear, and as much as you like. Made private so anonymous can't see it, and maybe joining a group.

Thats not true. You can always see it because of the chatlog (yes, the drop down bar)

You can always not look at the posts. As an admin you do not have to moderate (yep, your words)

Which most people don't bother looking at apart from a specific reason, and can (and is) be hidden for most of the time people use Habbo. What is more, when you log out and log back in, the chat log is erased and started again. Generally, it's not always on show as it would be on the forum. It would permanently lower the tone.

We don't have to moderate, necessarily (although we sometimes do) but we often have to deal with moderator decisions and the like. Not to mention we look at posts generally too. As Administrators, we are still members, and still try to contribute to discussion. That is a totally flawed argument.

it's extremely stupid that the filter is so strict tbh. But habbox has way too many ******* youngsters for it to even consider the older users. :/

How is it flawed? you choose what threads to look at, if it is something uninteresting like "chinese boy has a girlfriend of same age" then you don't have to click it... and you don't have to moderate and ****. :S

The filter is there to keep the forum looking professional and organized. Like it's a big deal that things get bleeped out. Whoopee. If you have something to say that's really that big of a deal that you have to curse to get your point across, then don't do it on the forum.
