I don't know why people don't like the design, now at least it looks more like a phone rather than a fashion statement. It IS a real Apple product, probably the 4G, but probably just a prototype and it probably will change before it comes to stores. Apple have even mailed Gizmodo saying that they want it back.
I love the design, its much more like PHONE. I have a 3G and I'm forever being cautious cause I know if I drop it - its ******, at least with this it looks and apparently feels much more solid and much more like a phone. I love the look of it too, so different.
IMO I just hope that the internal specs match the external look of it, rumors days before Gizmodo had it (i think Engadget had one, or the same one) were saying that it had an 80GB HD? 80GB? bit strange (I thought it would be 64?) but I'll take it, and they also reported more ram, better processor and a much higher resolution screen, and not to mention its already proven that it has a much better camera on the back with flash, and also A FRONT FACING CAMERA!
Can't wait for my upgrade in June/July!

If there were any remaining doubters about the authenticity of the prototype iPhone that was leaked earlier today, Gizmodo has posted a letter from Apple demanding the device back. The letter may seem like an odd admission by Apple, but apparently was required by Gizmodo to return the device.
Apple reportedly called Gizmodo earlier today after the images of the unreleased device were posted to the internet. The prototype iPhone was reportedly left at a bar by an Apple employee. The letter reads:
It has come to our attention that GIZMODO is currently in possession of a device that belongs to Apple. This letter constitutes a formal request that you return the device to Apple. Please let us know where to pick up the unit.
The letter is signed by Apple's Senior Vice President & General Counsel Bruce Sewell.
Gizmodo, of course, will be returning the phone.
wow that's very interesting
