You'll need drivers for Windows 7 as well (although different versions).

Your best bet is to try and find them before you reinstall.

if you go onto the manufacturers website of your laptop it should have a download link, there you will find windows 7 drivers and if its there you will be able to download them

eeer about installing off an sd card just a shot in the dark here, but if you can install something like winrar on the laptop you want to install the OS to and open the .iso file (whether it be windows 7 or XP) and just double click the setup it should just run without any trouble at all onto the harddrive?
Although, if you want to run the setup via BIOS you would need to make the SD card bootable

I hope this helps, sorry if any information is inaccurate im sure someone will correct me if so

I've never installed from USB / SD, although I assume it goes something like this.

Copy all the files/directories onto the SD card (or there might be special software to "burn" it onto the card)

Then go into BIOS and set the boot priority so that the SD card reader/ "USB" comes before the HDD.

    Second thoughts
Why not just google for a guide?

Well if you download an .ISO OS and copy that file onto the SD card and then put it into your laptop, then open the .iso with WinRAR, open setup.exe and it should install fine? What problems are you facing sorry?
