Kinect is the start of Minority Report technology![]()
Heres the reasons Kinect fails:
1) Its an accessory, accessories are never supported. Lets take the Wii Fit balance board shall we? Kinect will never outsell the balance board. In fact I believe that even if every xbox owner purchased Kinect it would not outsell the balance board. How many games do you see coming out for that? Loads at first, a year later? None. The same with WiiMotionPlus and the Eyetoy.
2) Its WAY less precise than even the standard WiiMote. The reason the WiiMote works well its because of its accuracy and speed.
3) Kinects appeal is "no controller" right? Well I challenge you you need a controller. You HONESTLY expect me to play Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda or Metroid WITHOUT an analogue stick. Thats what I mean when I say 3D Cameras have a place in gaming but only to compliment the controller. A controller is always required.
4) Following on from the controller point I think you need a controller for feedback. I don't see why people are so ready for this "controller-less gaming". I mean they just showed Star Wars, lets have a look at that. Would you rather swing a light sabre holding a WiiRemote with gives you feedback in the form of a rumble and sound in the form of a slash or nothing at all?
5) Penultimately Kinect has yet to be proved. I believe it was IGN who said just yesterday that it was still "jittering". Not to mention that it is yet to have a "killer title"
6) Finally and perhaps most importantly is the fact that Kinect doesn't have Nintendo. Look at every wii game that uses motion control well, who are they made by? Nintendo. 3rd party companies have failed time and time again. It's exactly the same as the DS touchscreen. Nintendo are the only ones that seem to be able to use it well.

@#6 that's only because it's cheap and easy to make wii/ds games :L Anyway I agree with the rest and tbh it pretty much will do everything the eyetoy does, they're even bringing out a pet game like the eyepet., kinectimals(?). Sounds so crap.
Haven't read into anything regarding that Kinect thing so no idea what it is but I find even the PS3's six-axis thing a pointless novelty so I doubt I'll be interested. I even find the Wii's motion stuff annoying and that's probably the best there is.
That aside, this new XBOX sounds pretty good, but it's basically what it should have been (the Elite anyway) in the first place - minus the reduced size (is it reduced size or just purely thinner?). Need to see more pics tbh
Can't really judge, but I completely agree with your point on receiving feedback from your actions. I'd rather have something in my hand that makes a sound or vibrates giving me feedback on what I've done. It would be like fighting a ghost, or thin air, where neither one of the characters can do anything.Heres the reasons Kinect fails:

It's interesting they've released this new Xbox 360 when there doesn't appear to be much mentioned about it. Like Black_Apalachi said... It's what the Xbox should of been at the start, or the Elite which was praised as the ultimate Xbox, despite many gamers using wireless connectivity than wired.

The whole idea of motion gaming/gaming without a controller just doesn't appeal to me full stop. I prefer holding a controller to play games, it makes me feel like I'm in the game for more than gestures ever will. That Star Wars demo alone was enough to put me off, you can't move the character, the game has to move you forward. I thought that was banished with 2D side scroller games
IMO, to get a proper motion controller game it would cost thousands and you would need to have pinpoints on your body to move parts of the character. Like one on your head to turn the characters head.
The new slim 360 is £200 same as the 120gb elite.
Ships 16th july.
I was thinking of getting one of these until the 3ds was shown. i already have everything the slim is. but it looks so hot.
Haha, if I didn't need a new TV I'd pre-order one now, I'll just wait and trade in my xbox to get one later in the year I think.
