They took my bottle off me and binned it, about 2 seconds after I finished it. They were like you're not 18 blahblha then went away. I thought more would get done than that but i'm not complaining...

nothing happened anyways. everyone got told it was byob but there ended up being tons there. then on the walk home 3 police cars came racing by.
apparently if you haven't been drinking and it'd not open they can't take. but if it's open or you have been drinking they can.
hi
Loads of myths going around, from experience I can tell you that all they will do is take it off you and take your name. If they think you are too drunk to make your own way home safely they will give you a lift - you don't really have an option either when they offer to give lifts.![]()
They take it anyway... They aren't going to take the word of someone saying they're 18+, over the phone are they. I know for a fact my sister wouldn't of just handed it over without saying anything. The Police aren't stupid.

& i didn't say lie about your age, i said lie about where you're taking it and then get a friend to back you up
It's not an actual offence at the moment although I know there is strong lobbying of parliament to make it so. Some areas do confiscate though as said in previous posts.
Funny thing is, Tara said the exact same thing as meOriginally Posted by wixard
same here, it's happened to my brother loads of times with cans but i can go collect it for him cos i'm 18..
Whys lying about where you are taking it going to achieve :S? You shouldn't have it in the first place so I highly doubt they're going to let you keep it just because "a mate backs you up" lol
This is what happens in Liverpool so it might be different to you, must happen in Ireland too if Tara said it's happened to her brother

Depends what you're doing with it. If you're simply taking it to a house, they can't really do much if you have permission off the house owner and your guardian. There is a law that allows police to dispose of the alcohol, which is usually pouring it down the drain. If you want to be smart, you can always turn the tables around and state that they're breaking the Water Resources Act since it's an offence to pour anything that could pollute a controlled water system - well if you know you're doing it.
Just don't give them any reason to search you![]()
Hmm well my mate got caught with lots of cans on the way to an exam (To drop it off for a party beforehand). They rang his friend and also his parents to confirm there was a party and he was going to an exam. They then warned him and took four cans, leaving him twelve.
If you hide it you're not going to get caught simple as.
