edit: it would seem quite a few of us have been quite lucky with removal. but it is deadly for yr pc ;l keri?!'s pc isn't booting at all. it's pretty nasty.
Well I know it isn't from Habbox and Oli said earlier in the thread that it could be from Facebook, which I know people use on our other computer so I just assumed that's where it came from. Obviously I don't know for sure.

Also, safe mode + malware did the job for me. The computer is working fine again now.

I don't think the virus could go as far as not letting the computer boot at all, the computer would still boot into the BIOS startup screen even if Windows wasn't there, if I remember correctly?

And if it was the virus you would hear some beeps at the start of the boot to tell you it's faulty, if I remember correctly (again)?

Maybe it's a fault with her computer.

...or maybe some important files were misplaced during the removal of the virus.

it does make a noise, won't let her into safe mode or anything, it boots to a black screen makes a noise and then goes off.

and, about the facebook thing. i suppose it could just be around alot atm?! aha. facebook isn't even in my history.
i don't think it's something to do with habbox, but it's stupidly suspicious that about 6 members of the forum have now come down with it and the only possible thing we have in common is hxf.

the thing is that it's only 6 users, if it was on Habbox it would have affected many more, which is why things like facebook groups should be considered because it's statistically possible for 6 people on this forum to have liked the same facebook group or whatever etc, but I think it's pretty safe to say if it was on Habbox Forums it would have affected more than 6

@ Abi, you'll probably know if you have this virus

i had norton on and i didn't get a flag or anything. google malwarebytes and do a scan with that

and i haven't clicked an msn link. i'm not ******ed.

@oli: i agree, i'm not accusing hxf in anyway or anything. but i haven't been on facebook or any dodgy sites or anything like that. i posted my history in the staff thread. i'm happy to provide further history if needs be.
and really, do i seem the kind of person who sits there downloading dodgy looking files and clicking links to viruses.. ha.
