Default The story of the clueless Computer Guy and the blown motherboard.

One afternoon I was using my laptop, the battery was running low so I put it on charge, it didn't work so I decided to try my universal charger but that didn't work either so I assumed the laptop was broken and sent it to a local guy to get it repaired. He diagnosed it as a broken power-port or something and told me he could have it fixed in a few days. 5 weeks later he rings me back and says to come pick up the laptop, I said "Great, is it fixed?" he said, "No, the motherboard is fudged." I said, "Well can't you fix it?" he said "I can but it will cost around 300 quid." I said "Well it shouldn't cost anything given that you must have done it.." he said "I didn't have anything to do with it" i said "Are you telling me someone just broke in to your shop one night and blew the motherboard?" he said "I don't know how it happened, just come and pick it up." So I went to pick it up and now have a useless lump of metal and plastic sitting on my beside locker.

Generally guys in local PC shops know bugger all about what they're doing, overcharge an arm and a leg and when they do get it working will rifle through all your files.
