This is a perfect answer to the two above posts and I shall say no more - It's the Music section, not the New Music Section.

I don't think video's just posted without supporting text should be allowed. If you like it enough to post then you should be able to say why otherwise it does look like a cynical attempt just to rise the post count which is what I feel you are complaining about as it clogs up the forum. On the other hand I don't think that it should be restricted to 'new music' as further mentioned in the thread as it is the 'Music' section and not just for the latest videos so Iif you really do like a clip or an old song and say why it should be allowed. This is a pretty good thread for discussion though.
I quite agree, if you are going to post a video in the music section in a thread then that's fine although it should really contain some form of opinion, question or something, you gotta write some form of text with it or it's not really starting a very good discussion is it?

Sarah is correct, it can fit into the one word answer rule in the rule she quoted, however it's no words so it's even worse!!! I shall speak with the moderators and ensure that music videos posted on their own with no text are being edited for that.

In terms of making a stickied thread for music videos, I agree with everybody that says it'd kill the music section - the section is for threads about songs and this is the way it will continue to be, your thread won't be getting stuck, sorry.

So what we're saying is that we're allowed to just post one music video per thread, as long as we have text in each thread to support the video? That's cool because I have like ten videos I'd like to share with people, I'm sure they'd love ten separate threads on the first page.
To be honest, in my just woken up stupidly early for work angry state, I may have been a bit OTT about a music video thread, but I'm thinking some kind of rule needs to implemented, because at the moment, like whoever posted, this person has pointless posted about five times, and it's just stupid to see them all on the first page.

So just because you're not getting your own way you're going to act immature?

Yes, a rule does need to implemented. Obviously, creating a thread with a music video and nothing else unacceptable as it would come under the pointless posting rule nor does it create any discussion.

But as has been said, it's the 'music' section, not the 'new music' section and most people post the threads to get views on songs they like. I know that some people use that section to find new songs and if all music video posting is confined to one thread, then most videos will get lost in the thread - a lot quicker than they do at the moment in the general forum. And I doubt most have the patience to go trawling through a thread.

The thing is, a thread discussing a song - there's nothing wrong with it so as long as there is text to back up the posting of any music videos - it's fine.

It would be incredibly childish for you to post 10 different videos at the same time in different threads but if you want to sink to that level then it's you that looks immature, I'm sorry to be blunt but that's how it is and it's no skin off my nose.

The music forum isn't terribly active, there aren't so many threads that threads are being sent three or four pages back within days and never get seen again.

I've just taken a look in the music forum and it appears to mainly be one member posting videos without any text. I'll begin by stating the first thing that stuck out to me - the member joined in August 2010. To see a new member trying to create discussion like that is quite good, how many others do it? Yes okay, she may not be sticking entirely to the forum rules however which new members read and digest the rules with 10 days of joining? Give her a break.

I have no idea why you're talking about new or old music, I haven't even mentioned the age of the music the user is posting.

Aren't you meant to read the rules completely beforesigning up? Definitely not an excuse in my opinion, but whatever, I see none of you aren't getting what I'm trying to say so just close the thread or whatever

Yes you are meant to read the rules before signing up but that's not to say everybody does. Did you?

Not all of them no, but that's not the point, you can't use the fact she's new to the forum as an excuse to not punishing her for breaking the rules. If I pointless posted I'd get warnings left, right and centre. If I had broken rules in my first few weeks I wouldn't expect to be treated differently

General pointless posting doesn't get you warnings/infractions as far as I'm aware? You'd get a PM advising you not to do it again as I'm sure the user in question has. She probably didn't even realise that those threads were pointless because posting a music video can actually provoke discussion. If a user posts a music video asking for and giving opinions on the song then surely it's fine.

I can see where you're coming from though. Posting several music videos a day all with their own threads could be seen as "cluttering" said forum but as long as it's provoking discussion. However, that's what a forum is all about...

As long as there is some text with the video (that is on topic) then the video is fine. It will be closed if there is already a discussion about something then someone makes a new thread to show off the music video - as it is not needed (eg katy perry thread talking about a song then someone makes a new thread with the music video then the music video thread will be closed or if there is a large amount of posts merged into the previous one). I think the way it is now is fine honestly - it keeps the music section active.

If your idea of eight threads with three posts in is active then you're an idiot. Like RedStratocas said, the music forum used to be an excellent place for discussions, regardless of taste but now all there threads are just making it awful to look at. The support for a stuck thread was positive, people want it to happen yet you still disregard everything i say
