no in this scenario they never stop being a friend to some extent, they just stay a bit more distant then before because they dont want to like lead you on or whatnot, learnt this the hard way, I did.

I think you're better off settling a bit in secondary school cos for all you know you might get involved with different people to her.

just tell her, even if it does put a dent in your friendship for a bit it will get better. im still friends with loads of people i went out with when i was around that age and it never ruined any of them. but if you think it will, then maybe just keep away for a bit
